Broxbourne Sailing Club

Sailing at Broxbourne Sailing Club

Broxbourne Sailing Club is a family friendly, fully inclusive club with a focus on starting young people and adults on their sailing pathway in addition to improving skills in racing, powerboating and yachting.

BSC is a club run by its members for its members. There are many opportunities to put your bit back in, at annual work parties and other voluntary projects such as helping with Challenger fleet sailing, facilities development and general club management.

Club members may sail at any time that they feel the conditions are appropriate to their skills and experience, without the need for safety cover if needs be.

In addition to dinghy sailing we also offer windsurfing tuition and hire through East London Windsurfing school.

We are a RYA accredited Training Centre and offer the RYA's National Sailing Scheme as our Adult training programme and the RYA Youth Training Scheme for 8 to 16 year olds.

The Youth Scheme

We run several courses for young beginners. See below for details.

For young people who want to continue their sailing progression we offer youth fleet sailing activities on Saturdays from April to October, from 9.30am to 12.30pm. These activities are available to club members only, through a Junior and Associate Membership, or a Family membership.

We will be offering RYA Stage 1 courses from April through to end September, and if there is sufficient demand, during the Spring and Summer school holidays. Our Youth Fleet Coordinator will advise you of dates.

Youth Activities

Other youth activities include:
  • Youth Week – 5 days of sailing tailored to the developmental needs of individual sailors, and an end-of-week fun regatta.
  • Trips to Open Meeting events at other clubs.

In Summary

We take young people through the pathway from Beginner to Competent and Confident sailor, to Racer, to Assistant Instructor, to Dinghy Instructor.
