Practice for the Regatta Weekend

The sun shone and the wind returned for this Saturday's practice session for the Novice and Youth sailors in preparation for the BSC Regatta weekend on 5 and 6 Sept. Following a club house session on  starting techniques, efficient mark rounding and the essential rules given by recently qualified DI, Matthew Lee, a fleet of 12 boats took to the lake for 3 short races under the guidance of our coaches. The competition was fierce with frequent shouts of rules echoing around Broxbourne, including the obligatory "Starboard" when on a port tack but no collisions so some attention was at least paid to the "Avoid collisions at all costs" discussion. 

The gusts conditions caught a few out resulting in some sailors testing the warmth of the water. Back on land lots of happy faces and tales of what could have been. A big thanks to those participating and the volunteers that make the session available
